The type of fees we offer:
Fixed, Mixed, and Contingent
Who are we representing? And are we defending or prosecuting the case?
If you are a business or individual, and we are defending you, ask us for a capped fee. A capped fee is either a lump sum payment or two to three small payments equal to the total lump sum payment. The lump sum payment is often all you will pay and no more.
And what is the lump sum payment? It depends on the extent of work required for whatever work is involved. We figure the amount at the beginning of your matter so there are no surprises. If the amount is too high for your budget, don't worry, we will work with you to see what you can afford. We believe the best lawyers should be available to everyone, not just those with excess means. And if you are well-off enough to afford us without concern, you'll be happy to know you're getting the best representation for far less than what you would spend on an unnecessarily larger firm.
Now, on the flip side, if you are a business or individual, and we are suing on your behalf (instead of defending you), expect to pay either nothing or a mixed fee. You will be paying nothing, if after review of your matter, we are confident that we will earn our fee on a contingency basis. If our confidence is otherwise -- such as when there is no insurance involved -- then you will be charged a mixed fee, which is usually a certain amount up-front and a contingency basis later.
Not sure what kind of retainer applies to you? Just call and ask -- you will get a detailed explanation from us and an engagement letter in writing explaining the fee structure. You will also get a complete opportunity to ask any questions.
